ESTABLISHED 1986
NEW YORK CITY

Automatic Slim’s,

One Bar under a Groove (a phrase adapted from Parliament Funkadelic),  was founded in 1986 by Doc, Mark Lee, Gunnar and KB(C).

The idea was to play the best songs.
Like, all the time.
Good drinks, good food.

Open late, it’s a music bar/restaurant
where young people come have a drink,
a snack, share the night.

We’re in the business of fun.

Bar’s name is from an old Willie Dixon song, ‘Wang Dang Doodle,’ about having a party  late on into the evening.

‘We’re gonna honk and stomp ‘til Midnight, Fuss and fight ‘til Daylight,
we gonna pitch a
wang-dang-doodle
All Night Long’

We have one almost every night.
